Seit 1954 treffen sich jedes Jahr 100 bis 140 hochrangige Vertreter von Politik, Wirtschaft und Finanzwelt aus Westeuropa und Nordamerika an wechselnden Orten. Ort und Teilnehmerliste werden erst kurz vor Beginn offiziell bekannt gegeben.

Die diesjährige Bilderberg-Konferenz wird in Dresden stattfinden. Das bestätigte eine Sprecherin des Bundesinnenministeriums auf Anfrage der taz. Die Bilderberger tagen vom 9. bis 12. Juni in der sächsischen Landeshauptstadt. Aus dem Umfeld eines Teilnehmers wurde das Kempinski-Hotel Taschenberg-Palais im Zentrum der Stadt als Tagungsort bestätigt. Der Hotel, unweit der Semper-Oper gelegen, gilt als das luxuriöseste Hotel der Stadt.
